We love our small towns in Idaho. Many of these towns are full of hidden gems, charming festivals, and must-visit attractions. Hailey, located in the central part of Idaho, is one of our favorite small towns in Idaho. This delightful place has something to offer everyone and is where you could easily spend forever exploring, enjoying, and admiring. But if you feel a little short on time, don’t worry. A weekend spent in Hailey, Idaho is enough time to fall in love with the area – because believe, us, you will.
Hailey, Idaho is located in the Wood River Valley and sits at the edge of both the Sawtooth and Challis National Forests. The Big Wood River runs right alongside the town, making this entire area beautiful.
And when we say beautiful, we aren’t exaggerating. This entire area is stunning. Hailey is one small town that will make you quickly fall in love with Idaho all over again.
If you want to explore this area and admire its beauty, hop on the Wood River Trail.
This is a paved trail that is more than 20 miles long and connects the small towns of Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley. Walk, run, cycle — there are so many ways to explore and take in the beauty of the area.
You can also step into the Blaine County Historical Museum and learn even more about this small town and the surrounding area.
Located on Main Street in Hailey, this museum teaches you more about the history of Hailey and the surrounding small towns. You’ll even learn a few fun facts about Hailey. For example, did you know an elephant ran loose in Hailey in 1884? Crazy, right?
While Sun Valley Ski Resort is one of the most popular resorts in Idaho and just a short drive from Hailey, approximately three miles from downtown Hailey you’ll find another option — Rotarun Ski Area.
Since 1948, Rotarun Ski Area has been a local favorite during the winter months. This ski area even offers youth programs to help children get outdoors and improve their skills on the slopes.
If you want to spend some time outdoors, less than eight miles outside of town is the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.
You can walk through five biomes of south-central Idaho at this 5-acre Idaho garden. The Sawtooth Botanical Garden is open from dawn to dusk each day.
Plus, when you start to get hungry, there are dozens of tasty places to eat in Hailey like KB’s, A Taste of Thai, and Wiseguy Pizza Pie.
No matter what type of food you are craving, you will likely find something to satisfy your cravings in Hailey.
Hailey, Idaho may not be a large town but it’s one area where you could spend forever exploring. But even visiting for a weekend will give you a taste of all this charming town has to offer and will certainly make a lasting impression.
