Have you ever wanted to live on your own private island? Same here.
How about catching the morning sunrise from the rustic luxury of a floating campground? Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is home to three particularly special BLM ones along the western shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene, and they're about as secluded as you can get. So secluded, in fact, that you can only reach them by boat! Complete with unique floating outhouses. Yes, you read that right. Check it out!
Open year-round to boaters, Coeur d'Alene Lake's unique "boater parks" are secluded havens for dedicated camping enthusiasts who crave a taste of island life.
Boat-in only and primitive in terms of amenities, the pristine waterfront beauty is absolutely breathtaking, despite the lack of creature comforts.
You'll have to boat about an hour or so to get here, but the distance is worth it.
You might see another boat or two along the way...
But mostly, just a whole lot of Idaho beauty!
Once you arrive and moor off, you'll forget you're on an island at all.
At Mica Bay Boater Park, calm waters and breathtaking views treat visitors, and the well-developed site features large grass lawnscapes to play Frisbee and frolic just a few feet from the open sandy beach.
At Windy Bay, you'll find 14 tent camping sites, 7 mooring docks, and unique floating outhouses.
At Popcorn Island on Killarney Lake, the one-acre space offers small and intimate spaces from May-September, perfect for day picnicking or single-night stays.
No additional amenities mean you'll have to pack-in, pack-out, however. Keep it clean!
Fees vary for these beautiful floating campgrounds...
But waking up to this view? Priceless.
Idaho truly does have it all! Who would you like to take an island vacation with - without ever jumping on a plane?
