Decades ago, the property was bought by a man named Dr. Samuel "Pappy" Swayne and his wife Cleo. They built numerous structures on the property for their medical practice and personal uses. Pappy died in 1976, and that's when Cleo decided to open the area and turn it into the creative oasis you see today.
The entire area is a mixed bag of bizarre and unique features. A 1-mile nature trail leads you past the museum's eclectic collection of sculptures, birdhouses, and other artistic hidden gems.
