If you are a regular Only In Your State reader, you know that we love our small towns in Idaho. The Gem State is home to many charming towns that are delightful places to call home or simply visit for a weekend. However, there is one small town that is often overshadowed by the others but it may just be one of the country’s best riverfront towns — Garden City. Home to incredible activities both inside and outdoors, you will never be bored. It’s charming, beautiful, and a must-visit when in Treasure Valley.
Garden City is a beautiful small town located in Treasure Valley. This town is almost completely surrounded by Boise but it still operates on its own with a municipal government and nearly 12,300 residents.
Whether you choose to live in Garden City or you just want to visit for the weekend, you will never run out of things to do. If you wish to stay indoors, check out the craft beverage corridor. In Garden City, there are more wineries, cideries, and breweries per square mile than anywhere else in Idaho.
You can check out places like Barbarian Brewing, Coiled Wines, and Meriwether Cider, to just name a few.

If you love the outdoors, you’ll definitely love Garden City. This city is located right along the Boise River. You can explore this river on the Boise River Greenbelt, a 25-mile paved trail that travels right along the river and through the city.
If you love a good baseball game, head to Memorial Stadium on Glenwood Street in Garden City. This outdoor baseball park is where the Boise Hawks play each summer.
Held each summer, this festival brings in big names in all music genres for a day of incredible entertainment.
Thrill seekers must check out Boise Whitewater Park. This unique urban park is where kayakers, surfers, and extreme paddleboarders can catch some serious waves far from the ocean.
But, there is nothing that compares to the city parks and gardens located around Garden City. There are so many places where you can enjoy some fresh air and sunshine like the Pollinator Garden, Heron Park, Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve, and Esther Simplot Park.
One of our favorite places to spend time outdoors in Garden City is the Nature Path, which runs along the northern bank of the Boise River. This path is where you can find a little peace and quiet along the river and even observe wildlife right in the city.
