You And Your Partner Will Love These 13 Unique Date Ideas In Hawaii
Whether you’ve just met someone special or you’ve been married for twenty years, going on dates are crucial for a healthy relationship. Luckily, in Hawaii, we have access to a variety of incredible date ideas – many of which are free! So, instead of dinner and the latest romantic comedy, check out any of these thirteen unique date ideas.
1) Head out to sea.
Rent kayaks or stand up paddleboards and enjoy an afternoon on the water. A double kayak will force you to work together, and you can bond over the incredible views.
2) Take to the trails.
They say that couples who work out together, stay together. Hiking is one of Hawaii’s greatest activities, and it will give you the opportunity to reconnect with each other – and nature. Pack a picnic lunch for a little added romance.
3) Watch the sun set over the ocean.
Some of the best dates are free, like grabbing a blanket and heading to your favorite westward facing beach to watch a magnificent Hawaiian sunset. Don’t forget your camera and maybe a bottle of wine.
4) Try something new.
From ziplining through the forest to jumping out of an airplane, new adventures abound in Hawaii. Trying something new with your significant other will not only be fun (most of the time) – but it will create a lasting memory the two of you can share for years to come.
5) Tour a coffee farm.
Coffee dates are just so… typical. Instead, grab a cup of coffee and tour the very farm where that coffee was grown. This can reduce pressure since natural pauses in conversation won't seem so awkward while walking through a farm.
6) Explore a new town.
Head out in the morning and spend all day exploring a new town: do a little shopping, check out the town’s well-known landmarks, browse local galleries, and grab lunch.
7) Hang out with local sea life.
Grab your gear and head underwater at your favorite snorkel spot, but don’t forget to bring that Go Pro for a magnificent underwater kissing photograph. Aren’t necessarily comfortable snorkeling? Head to the Waikiki Aquarium or the Maui Ocean Center instead.
8) Take a road trip.
Okay, so I’m not sure you can really call it a road trip in Hawaii, but why not drive around your island, stopping whenever you like to explore the sites. The best philosophic conversations I’ve ever had with my husband occurred while we were driving long distances.
9) Check into a charming bed and breakfast.
Forget fancy hotels, bed and breakfasts are where it’s at. If you’re near Lahaina, the Ho’olio House is a must-visit for a romantic getaway with your significant other – whether you’ve been together for a year, or fifty.
10) Try a new restaurant.
Why not take a step out of your comfort zone and check out a restaurant you have never been to. Better yet, try a type of food you’ve never had before.
11) Take a long walk.
While long walks on the beach are fantastic, why not take a walk through one of Hawaii’s incredible botanical gardens instead? The beautifully manicured gardens make for the quite the romantic setting.
12) Visit a museum.
From the Hawaii State Art Museum in Honolulu to the Big Island’s Pacific Tsunami Museum, there is always a great museum or cultural site out there just waiting to be explored. Impress your new beau with your knowledge of art, or learn something together.
13) Go island hopping.
If you’re looking for more than just a date night, why not make it an entire weekend? Island hopping is perfect for anniversary celebrations, or even as an alternative to exchanging Christmas gifts. Who needs material objects when you can visit another island?
