When summer starts to roll to a close and those first few brisk mornings come along, I feel a joy akin to a kid on Christmas morning. As someone who hates the heat but lives in a humid climate, I start to truly feel alive in the fall. There are so many things to love about autumn: the foods, the festivals, the brilliantly beautiful fall foliage in Georgia. Most of the North Georgia area enjoys pretty spectacular colors. Head to somewhere in the well-traveled Northeast Georgia mountains like Brasstown Bald, Tallulah Gorge, or Helen and you’ll get to enjoy all the splendor of the season. But what about once you’ve hit up the top destinations and are looking for something a bit lesser-known? Head over to Summerville and check out James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park.
