Lately, Georgia has been growing into a food lovers' paradise. However, for those who have lived here for a while, there are quite a few spots that have been around for some time. This particular restaurant for example, has been serving the residents of Alpharetta for nearly a century, and while the menu may have changed a little, there are still plenty of Southern favorites to chow down on.
In 1920, a man name Louis Jones opened a soda fountain at the very back of his medicine shop in Alpharetta, Georgia, named Alpha Soda.
While there have been many change to Alpha Soda throughout the years, ownership included, much of the charm and popularity have remained.
Open seven days a week, you can grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this old fashioned restaurant.
You can expect to find a lot of Southern classic dishes, yet some with a modern twist—like the jerk chicken with waffles.
But then you’ll have tried-and-true dishes, like the homemade meatloaf, beef liver and onions, and country fried steak.
Breakfast is just as satisfying, with a big platter of food that can jumpstart any day the right way.
Even visiting during certain times of the week you’ll be able to enjoy some live music as you dine.
Don’t forget to check out the dessert case, with homemade cakes and pies that’ll remind you of the ones your grandmother used to make.
I mean, the banana peanut butter cream pie with a flakey crust topped with torched Swiss meringue….swoon.
Whether you grab an old fashioned meat and three, or you stick to some other Southern favorites, Alpha Soda has withstood the test of time and you’ll see why.
Although there have been changes with time to this old fashioned restaurant, the food remains the star of the experience.
