If you're heading in the direction of Blue Ridge, then you have to stop at The Pink Pig. They serve up local BBQ in a few ways, plus a killer garlic salad which will haunt your dreams until you come back for more.

6. Aniston’s Restaurant—1404 W Baker Hwy, Douglas, GA 31533

The thing about Aniston's which we love so much is that it's the perfect neighborhood spot to feast on a Southern buffet like you've never seen. Whether you go for the buffet on seafood night and feast on crab legs and shrimp, or you stick to the tried-and-true regular buffet and scoop up some sweet trifle, either way you'll always be satisfied.

7. Downda Earth— 7152 Georgia 75 Alt, Helen, GA 30545

Now before you rush off and sit down for these soft, pillowy sweet waffles, Downda Earth is temporarily closed until April 2017. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't find a spot on this list. Downda Earth is a great neighborhood spot in Helen, especially for breakfast or brunch. It's not a huge space, fits a tiny amount of people, but the food is fresh and the eggs are directly from their farm out back.

8. The Back Porch— 297 Buford St, Shellman, GA 39886

The Back Porch is something of a hidden gem in this quiet neighborhood. But many people from Southern Georgia flock to this spot for good country-style buffet eatin' with their families. It's not fancy, not expensive, not presumptuous, but always will leave you smiling. The fried chicken and catfish are a must-try.

9. Hot Rod's Diner—208 Village Circle, Social Circle, GA 30025

A 1950s atmosphere. Jukeboxes on the tables. Old fashioned hamburgers. Homemade soups and chowders. Even Hot Rods outside in the parking lot. It's a local dining experience you and your family will always enjoy.

10. Southern Star Grill - 752 E Oak St Mc Rae, GA 31055

The prices are more than reasonable, the food is always fantastic, plus they have Blue Plate Specials everyday that will rival the best of them. You can't go wrong with a neighborhood spot still serving up delicious meat and threes.

11. The Colonnade— 1879 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta, GA 30324

The Colonnade has been serving up Southern eats to the neighborhood since 1927. We're talking about cornbread, turkey dressing, collard greens, okra, and fried chicken just to name a few. Just think, classic Southern food at it's absolute finest.

12. Lil Mike's Family Restaurant—611 Gaskin Ave S, Douglas, GA 31533

Everyone that tries Lil Mike's Family Restaurant says that the burgers are the best in the neighborhood. The prices are insanely reasonable, especially when the food is always delicious. If you check out this neighborhood spot, make sure you try the hand battered french fries, too.
