Georgia might not have many tropical spots to visit, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have pockets of nature that are clean and clear. Take Lake Sinclair in Georgia, for instance. Lake Sinclair is one of the clearest lakes in Georgia, which means you can eat anything you catch without any worry of contamination.
For those in search of a lakeside excursion, Lake Sinclair in Georgia might not come to mind first. I'd call it a bit of a hidden gem, which is part of what makes it so great.
But this 15,000+ acre lake just outside of Milledgeville is known for being one of the cleanest lakes in Georgia. Some go so far as to say it's THE cleanest.
This man-man lake was created back when Georgia power decided to dam the Oconee River.
While many of the lakes in Georgia are brimming with restaurants and hotels, Lake Sinclair is quiet. That means you can enjoy a bit of the quieter side of life here.
First and foremost, the fishing here is fantastic. In fact, the lake is known for having some pretty popular fishing tournaments throughout the year.
Best of all, the water here is so clean and so clear, there aren’t any eating restrictions regarding the fish you catch.
Spend the weekend camping along the shoreline, being right out in nature, falling asleep to the sounds of frogs chirping and lightning bugs lighting the sky.
While it might not resemble a traditional tropical paradise, Lake Sinclair can easily become your go-to summer vacation spot where anything is possible.
