Brasstown Bald is one of the most magical places in Georgia. As the highest natural point in the state, it towers 4,784 feet over sea level, giving those who scale it the opportunity on a clear day to view four states. You can hike or drive to the top, making it an immensely popular spot to visit at any time of year. But on a cloudless night, it’s also one of the best areas for stargazing in Georgia. Being so high up in the air means it’s an ideal location to get a great view of the starry night sky.

The hike up to the top of Brasstown Bald is one of the best trails in Georgia. The views are absolutely magnificent, and the observation tower at the summit allows you to get even higher in the air.

The lights to the visitors center are turned off at night. The lack of light combined with the high elevation means you've got an amazing chance to see the stars if it's a cloudless night.

The mountain is open 24/7, but no facilities are available after 5:00 p.m. There is an additional after-hours fee for visiting after 5:00.
