Sometimes there is nothing better than taking a welcomed trip down memory lane. It can help you relive certain moments in time that you have forgotten, or perhaps it stimulates nostalgia and brings back fond feelings of a fun decade. We love looking at old photos of Georgia, no matter the decade. It's nice to see how far things have come, and also appreciate the way things once were. Have a look at these photos of Georgia in the 1960s and prepare to be mesmerized:
1. The Bridge to Savannah, Georgia.
Savannah was Georgia's first city, founded in 1733.
2. The First Female Member of the Georgia National Guard.
More than 40 years ago, the Georgia Army Guard celebrated a milestone: the enlistment of its first female member, Mrs. Gail Wagner.
3. A Nuclear-Powered Cargo Ship Gliding into Savannah.
The Georgia National Guard honored the nuclear powered cargo ship as it glides into its home port in 1962.
4. What Professors Wore to Teach in 1966
Some professors still keep their business-like attire, but some can be seen wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.
5. Brandon's Grocery in the mid-1960's dubbed "The Little Store".
Makes you really think about how far grocery stores have come since then. Free Wifi and rows upon rows of food.
6. The Inside of a Train Car in 1962
This is when planes weren't a primary form of transportation. These passengers are aboard the Silver Meteor in the Observation Lounge.
7. Georgia National Guard 1960's - Ft. Stewart.
Although the push-ups seem to look like they haven't changed throughout the years, uniforms sure have.
8. Armstrong State University 1966
What was once the size of a small town has now grown to be more than 200 acres of college campus, and part of the University System of Georgia.
How about that for a flashback? We can certainly see what made Georgia so popular in the 1960s. Have any stories or photos that you wish to share? Either leave a few in the comments below, or share on our Facebook Page.
