West Virginia is famous for its down-home country cooking and native delicacies like the pepperoni rolls, and chili dogs with slaw. The Mountain State also boasts several restaurants that have been around for decades and are still popular destinations.

1. Coleman's Fish Market

Wheeling’s Coleman Fish Market has been family run since 1914. Located in the Centre Market Place, Coleman’s is a no-frills establishment that offers the most delicious fish sandwich you will ever eat. Coleman’s also serves specialty seafood dishes, soups and sandwiches. There is always a line, but the food is worth the wait!

2. Stewart's Hotdogs Drive-thru

Huntington’s iconic orange drive-thru opened back in 1932. Stewart’s was originally opened by John Louis and his wife Gertrude. When the couple opened Stewart’s the menu featured only two items: popcorn and root beer. In an attempt to boost business they added hotdogs with Gertrude’s secret recipe chili. Business soon thrived. Today business is still booming and the extended menu includes hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches and deep fried corn dogs.

3. North End Tavern and Brewery

North End is the oldest restaurant and brewery in West Virginia. It opened in Parkersburg in 1899 and the brewery was added in 1997. They offer a wide variety of appetizers, salads and sandwiches. They even offer a vegan menu. North End’s, Roedy Red amber ale is legendary and is often ordered with the NET burger.

4. Murial's Restaurant in Fairmont

For over 40 years Murial’s Restaurant has been Fairmont’s spot for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. Whether you are in the mood for manicotti, lasagna, or pasta with homemade meat sauce, Muriale’s is the place to be. The restaurant is also famous for its rich and delicious desserts. Muriale’s also caters weddings and receptions and offers customers picnic boxes as well as take out.

5. Tudor's Biscuit World

Tudor’s Biscuit World has multiple locations across West Virginia. If you enjoy a big fluffy biscuit filled with bacon, eggs, hash browns, ham, or chicken, then Tudor’s is the place to be. It also offers a dinner menu. Tudor’s was originally based in Charleston, West Virginia, but over the years it has opened establishments in Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia.

6. Austin's Ice Cream

Ceredo’s popular ice cream shop opened its doors in 1947. In 1983 it was purchased by Joyce Snyder, who began to serve up ice cream made from scratch with all natural ingredients. Today they offer 50 original flavors including grape, pineapple, and pumpkin pie.

7. Tomaro's Bakery in Clarksburg

Tomaro's bakery has been supplying West Virginia with some of the best pepperoni rolls, breads, buns, and pizza shells out there for over 100 years. It is common to find a long line waiting for its fresh baked goodies.

8. Mario's Fish Bowl

Mario's Fish Bowl in Morgantown has been serving customers since 1963. Located on Richwood Avenue, it is the perfect place to watch a Mountaineer game.

9. Quinet's Court Restaurant

Quinet's has been serving customers in New Martinsville since 1941. They serve up American specials like Reuben sandwiches, seafood platters, roast beef and open faced sandwiches.

10. The Corner Shop

The Corner Shop is an old-fashioned soda fountain shop located in historic Bramwell. It has been a community favorite since the early 1900s.

11. Jim's Steak and Spaghetti

Jim's Steak and Spaghetti restaurant has been serving the Huntington area since 1938. President John Kennedy ate there when he visited West Virginia and it is a favorite of current senator Joe Manchin.
