I am a soda lover. In fact, as I write this article, I am wearing a shirt proudly displaying my favorite soda. I’m not a coffee drinker so carbonated beverages are my afternoon pick-me-ups and are my drink of choice when water is just too blah. And while I have lived in the Beehive State most of my life, I have a confession to make … I have never visited Swig, one of the most popular soda shops in Utah. With more than 40 Swig locations around Utah, I’m probably one of the few who can make this claim.
Swig is one of the first soda shops to emerge in Utah. Its first store opened in St. George in 2010, close to the current Utah Tech University campus.
Swig quickly became popular for its “dirty sodas.” These are name-brand sodas with flavored syrups, creams, or fruit purees added in to create a customized, flavorful drink.
In just over a decade, Swig has expanded to more than 40 locations in Utah and to eight other states.
And while many people flock to Swig for the sodas, this is just the beginning of items on the menu. For example, there are reviver energy drinks, refreshers with a sparkling water or regular water base, and hot chocolate.
When you visit, you can choose from several signature drinks or create your own, ensuring you have the perfect drink for whatever activity is next on your agenda.
Just make sure you don't leave Swig without trying one of their pink frosted sugar cookies or salted pretzel bites.
Despite the incredible menu (sugar cookies are my guilty pleasure!), I’ve still driven by dozens of Swigs, never once stopping.
I understand you may laugh at my confession but Swig has established such a cult following that they even sell all types of merchandise from sweaters to tumblers. Swig gift cards are also quite popular.
Don’t cast me out of Utah just yet … I will someday have a drink and cookie from Swig. I promise.
