When we think about food in Oregon, our minds often drift to fresh-caught salmon, organic, locally-grown produce, savory herbs, and craft beer. However, this state is no slouch when it comes to delectable artisan baked goods. Sweet Wife Baking is a little bakery in Oregon that bakes the most mouthwatering creations that are a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
In the heart of downtown Baker City, Oregon, nestled right on Main Street, is one of the most glorious bakeries in which you’ll ever set foot. Sweet Wife Baking is open Tuesday through Sunday and the scent will draw you right in.
The interior is a comfortable mix of rustic and modern with a wooden bar and brick wall you can sidle up to and a few tables by the windows where you can people-watch while you eat. The bakery’s operations are open to see and you can watch the bakers work their magic.
You can pick up some of the delicious treats to go right at the counter or grab a seat and savor the in-house artisan creations that will delight your taste buds. It has undergone a recent remodeling so there is even more on display.
There are so many delightful treats here that we can barely scratch the surface, however, these chocolate babkas are something you absolutely must try.
Aside from the baked sweets, there are scrumptious savory offerings like a selection of enticing sandwiches on in-house baked fresh bread with a yummy soup. There are several gourmet grilled cheese options that are to die for.
In fact, why not eat in AND take out? No one could possibly blame you if you couldn’t resist taking some of these amazing treats home with you.
If there’s one thing I can’t resist, it’s a gooey, sweet, dripping bead pudding with all of that cinnamon and glazing that melts in my mouth. I dare you to take only one bite.
Sweet Wife Baking is happy to bake cakes to order for any special occasion. Just be sure to order at least 72 hours in advance as this place is in demand!
