You Won’t Find Better Country Cooking (Or Pie) Than At This One Oklahoma Restaurant

We all know if you're looking for downright delicious country cooking and desserts, Oklahoma is your place. From small towns to big cities, you can find the best of the best home-cooked meals in the country right here in the Sooner State. But we found one that continues to be at the top of our reader's list - The Hammett House - located in Claremore.

Hammett House has been in business since 1969 and has continued to show friendly Oklahoma hospitality year after year. It is a Claremore landmark located at 1616 West Will Rogers Boulevard.

The restaurant is known for its restful atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. Not only are they known for their food, but they are also famous for their homemade pies.

It's as close to home-cookin' as you can get. From salads and burgers to seafood and chicken, there's something on the menu for everyone.

Doesn't this grilled bone-in pork chop with a stone ground mustard glaze and a baked sweet potato & fried okra look divine?

You also have to try their Famous Fries - a true delicacy and Hammett House tradition. Choices include lamb or turkey fries or a combination of both. They come served with your choice of a tossed green salad or cup of soup and one side.

And of course, they serve chicken fried chicken that is a

"Pamper Fried" classic. It comes with a side of homemade cream gravy that tastes just like grandma's special recipe.

But let's talk about these famous pies. Every morning these delectable desserts are handmade in their bakery. One bite of this Sizzlin' Apple Delight pie and you will be hooked for life!

They have many staple flavors on the dessert menu and they also rotate specials throughout the year. I sure hope they bring back this French Style Cranberry Apple Pie because it was out-of-this-world delicious!

Other pie flavors include banana cream, coconut cream, sour cream cherry, sour cream blueberry, apple, sugar-free apple and more.

You can order a slice of pie or take a whole pie home. It's best to call ahead 24 hours in advance for whole pies because they are the best around.
