The Small-Town Restaurant That Is Worth A Visit From Anywhere In The New Mexico

Are you willing to take a road trip just for food? I am! With so many out-of-the-way places around the Land of Enchantment, a sense of adventure is certainly required to find some of the best restaurants around. One small-town restaurant in New Mexico that's worth a drive from anywhere in the state is The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina. Located in the town of Madrid, a wonderful culinary adventure awaits!

If you enjoy good food, friendly service, entertainment, and a fun atmosphere, The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina is one place to add to your list!

This historic tavern and cantina in Madrid, NM, opened its doors in 1947. However, there was another tavern built in 1895 in its place prior. The original tavern burnt down in 1944.

When you visit The Mine Shaft Tavern, you can either dine indoors or out on the patio of The Mine Shaft Cantina overlooking the town of Madrid.

On the menu is a wide selection of appetizers, entrees, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and more. So, what are you in the mood for?

For appetizers, how about chile cheese fries, nachos, coconut shrimp, fried ravioli, or the Hatch green chile basket?

One customer favorite is the Mad Chile Burger. This award-winning burger has fried Hatch chile, chopped Hatch chile, chipotle dijonnaise, and aged cheddar on top. Absolutely delicious!

But maybe you'll want to try a healthier option like the Meyer Lemon Avocado Salad or a Caprese salad.

Of course, here at The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina, there are draft beer, wine, and cocktails. The Mad Chile Margarita sounds good to me!
