This unassuming restaurant cooks up big Japanese flavors and might just have the best noodles in Nevada.

In Nevada, ramen restaurants are everywhere you go. Yet, there is one spot that I think deserves extra shine. Whether you’re celebrating National Noodle Month or you’re simply in the mood for a bowl of warm, savory broth to cure your soul, Fukumimi Ramen is the place for you. Some have said this Japanese restaurant has the best noodles in Nevada, but do we agree? Let’s find out and discover other must-try noodle dishes at one of the shining noodle joints in Las Vegas.

Is This the Best Ramen in Nevada?

alt

When I think of ramen, the first memory that comes to mind is of me in my college dorm room making noodles on our illegal hot plate. Back then, my roommates and I whipped up instant ramen; you know, the Top Ramen brand with the basic noodles and the seasoning pack. Today, ramen has elevated to include a rich broth that simmers for hours with bold flavors, topped with savory meats, veggies, soft-boiled eggs, and more. Eating this cozy dish is literally an experience on its own.

You can have the full experience (slurp and all) at Fukumimi Ramen in Las Vegas. This underrated ramen shop is located in the Tropicana East shopping plaza, about four miles from the Strip. Inside, the dining room is small, intimate, and inviting, with both counter and table seating. If you’ve been to Japan, it will remind you of the unassuming ramen shops you’ll find there.

I especially like the open-air kitchen, which allows guests to glimpse the many ramen creations the chefs whip up daily. For the most authentic Japanese vibe, I would recommend sitting at the counter to be closer to the action in the kitchen.

The ramen here is so delicious that it blew one customer’s mind, who wrote, “Excellent, it is the best ramen I've had out of Japan.” Las Vegas’ ramen scene is next-level, featuring dozens of restaurants serving the piping hot bowl of goodness. Yet, this low-key spot has earned its name as one of the best places to get ramen in Nevada.

What sets Fukumimi apart? The hearty broth takes more than 15 hours to prepare, slowly simmering and infused with authentic Japanese flavors. Owner Katsuya Tomonari, along with his staff, cooks each dish from scratch, using fresh, quality ingredients and traditional techniques. This hidden gem restaurant in Nevada could arguably be Sin City’s best-kept secret, and chances are, you will agree too.

Dive Into the Menu at Fukumimi

On the menu, expect more than 10 ramen options made with smooth and rich pork or chicken broth. Each bowl is piled with soft, perfectly cooked, thin, or thick noodles that complement the warm, flavorful broth. Toppings include pork belly, ground pork, chicken, spices, pastes, corn, veggies, and more.

One of the most popular dishes is the Fukumimi ramen, a pork-based broth (tonkostu) topped with extra pork belly (chashu), seasoned eggs, green onions, sprouts, and seaweed. The noodles are thin, cooked to perfection, and worth slurping (if you choose). Other favorites include the kara-miso (spicy miso) and the tonkotsu ramen. For folks on special diets, you can also customize certain menu options to fit your lifestyle.

Other Must-Try Noodle Dishes

When you’re in the desert, drinking a warm bowl of broth might be too hot for some of us to handle. Have no worries, you don’t have to miss out on ramen, Fukumimi has you covered. The restaurant offers a seasonal, summer menu with cold ramen topped with savory meats and veggies, minus the steamy broth.

If you’re visiting during the boiling summer months and you’re craving ramen, ask the server about the tomato ramen on the seasonal menu. The chilled soup comes with the same noodles, drizzled with sesame sauce and vinegar, and topped with corn, tomatoes, and veggies. Or try the broth-less hot and cold ramen, served with spicy cold noodles, spicy chicken, veggies, shredded seaweed, and a squeeze of lemon to brighten the dish. I have never had cold ramen, but this sounds so yummy to me.

Please note: The special summer menu is seasonal and not available throughout the year.

I know not everyone likes ramen. And guess what? They’re missing out! Lucky for them, Fukumimi's menu extends beyond the soft noodles. You can find appetizers, including gyoza (pan-fried chicken and pork dumplings), and tofu dishes. The karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken) is highly recommended, so don't skip trying it. Plus, there are several rice bowls topped with either chicken, pork, or kimchi for a vegetarian option. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose to eat here.

Should You Visit Fukumimi Ramen in Las Vegas?

Absolutely! It’s guaranteed that you’ll be receiving authentic Japanese food made with fresh ingredients, and packed with flavor that will leave you wanting more. I can see why the customers at Fukumimi keep coming back to this quieter corner of Las Vegas. Sometimes, it’s not about the glitz and glam, it’s about a quaint spot with excellent service, and delicious noodles worth every single slurp. Fukumimi says it best, “You deserve a little slurp of happiness.”
