Stony Ridge Cafe in Ely, Minnesota, offers over 50 varieties of massive burgers in a rustic, lakeside setting.
You’ll find a lot of massive Minnesota burgers in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But few places offer burgers that are as big - as many varieties - as Stony Ridge Cafe in Ely, Minnesota. You’ll just have to see for yourself!
Stony Ridge Cafe is located at Stony Ridge Resort just outside of Ely.
The cafe is decorated in a classic, rustic “Up North” style that you would expect at a northern Minnesota lodge.
It also has one of the state’s best outdoor seating areas, offering lake views from a series of interconnected decks.
But what Stony Ridge is probably best known for is its burgers. You’ll find more than 50 different burger options on its menu.
One thing that all of Stony Ridge’s burgers have in common is their size: They are huge. All of them.
And some are even bigger.
If you’re feeling particularly brave, order the Sasquatch. It’s four pounds of hamburger topped with one pound of cheese - along with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo (to ensure you get your vegetables).
If you finish the Sasquatch in 30 minutes or less, you get a free t-shirt!
Stony Ridge Cafe does have several offerings other than burgers. It’s also a popular breakfast spot.
And, yes, the breakfast servings are huge, too.
Speaking of massive Minnesota burgers, did you know the world record for the biggest bacon cheeseburger was set right here in Minnesota? That's right: In 2012, the culinary staff at Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton cooked, assembled, and served a 10-foot wide, 2,014-pound cheeseburger. Unfortunately, it's not currently on the menu at Black Bear.

Even though your burger won't tip the scales at a ton, you certainly won't leave Stony Ridge Cafe feeling hungry! Visit Stony Ridge Resort and Cafe's website to see its massive burger list.
