Wait, come back! I swear, this place is a legitimately great restaurant that just happens to be hiding inside a very average-looking gas station. When you think of gas station pizza, you likely imagine questionable slabs of dough sitting under a hot lamp. That’s the opposite of what you’ll find at Slice.

Located inside the A-L Prime gas station in Wakefield, this pizza shop actually serves some of the best pies outside the North End.

When you walk in, you’ll see the usual aisles of packaged snacks, auto supplies and lottery tickets behind the cash register.

But if you peek around the corner, you’ll be shocked to find a full pizzeria, complete with spinning rounds of dough, a pizza oven and the heavenly aroma of cheese.

The owner of Slice has worked in some of the finest Italian restaurants in Boston, so he knows what he’s doing.

You can't really go wrong with the pizza, but a favorite is the Rabe White Bean, with broccoli rabe, garlic & cannellini beans.

Of course, plain old cheese pizza never disappoints.

The Slice boneless wings are covered in homemade spicy honey mustard, garlic parmesan, buffalo, golden bbq & honey bbq.

The Slice chicken cutlet sandwich is beyond mouthwatering. Picture breaded chicken cutlet, prosciutto, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and house white balsamic vinaigrette.

Even if you’re just stopping by to fuel up, you’ll probably end up sitting down to a slice or two. The pizza is just that good.
