Boston's Seaport District is my new go-to spot whenever I visit the city. This revitalized section of town has so much going on! The new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and the soon-to-open Museum of Ice Cream are just some of the activities you can enjoy in this area. And there are also so many wonderful restaurants. While you have probably heard of some of the bigger eateries, there is a little Seaport District seafood spot that might not be on your radar. The Drydock Cafe is an off-the-beaten-path restaurant you should definitely know about!
Located within walking distance to Boston’s Cruiseport Terminal, you will find a lesser-known restaurant called the Drydock Cafe. Although this is an assuming, no-frills type of place, do not be fooled by its location or lack of bold decor.
This hidden spot, which is a favorite among locals, has some of the freshest seafood in Boston. From delicious fish to baked stuffed jumbo shrimp, the food is delicious; the portions are huge, and the prices are quite affordable.
The chowder at Drydock is a bestseller. You can order a cup or a bowl.
Appetizers include native fried calamari, haddock nuggets, and jumbo crab cakes.
To sample all the restaurant’s fantastic seafood, I suggest ordering the gigantic fisherman’s platter. It comes with clams, shrimp, calamari, fried haddock, scallops, cole slaw, and fries.
Be prepared to take some leftovers home with you.
Most people visit the Drydock Cafe for the fresh seafood items, but the restaurant also serves other great meals, including a popular chicken parmesan dish. And they have fantastic French toast, eggs, and other breakfast items.
Have you visited the Drydock Cafe? How was your meal? This fabulous restaurant is opened limited hours, so you will want to check the Drydock Cafe Facebook page before you visit. If you are looking to stay overnight in the Seaport District, may I suggest booking a room at the Hyatt Place Boston/Seaport District Hotel? The hotel has a beautiful outdoor patio area with a gorgeous view.
