One Of Maine’s Most Beloved Restaurants, Fat Boy, Just Finally Reopened

One of the best things about Maine are the many restaurants that serve those who live here and visit each year. Some are new, but many have a history that we love. We've grown up going to these places and, in some cases, even our grandparents can remember being patrons. Some of our favorites have been closed, which is why we were so excited to hear that this spot was re-opening!

Fat Boy Drive-In was started by 2 Chiefs at the Brunswick Naval Air Station (which was conveniently just across the street) back in 1955. After a few changes in leadership, Jeanne and Ken Burton took over in 1984. And, put it up for sale in 2018.

While things were uncertain for a time, Mainers got some great news in April. Fat Boy re-opened under new leadership in May!

While much is the same, there are of course some changes that have made things feel new and improved.

But, some things are the same. There's still plenty of parking and lots of great food.

And, as always, you'll need to turn your lights on for service.

While there's an inside area in which to dine, right now the best way to enjoy your food is from the comfort of your own car.

The menu here is small, but has been perfected over time. The lobster rolls are as fantastic as ever.

And those who prefer burgers, dogs and chicken will find that too.

Fried seafood, including clams and haddock? Yep, they've got it!

Above all, we love seeing a Maine small business come back!
