8 Maine Restaurants Right On The River That You’re Guaranteed To Love

Discover some of the best riverfront restaurants in Maine for a unique dining experience.

When it comes to views while you dine, the Maine coastline is second to none. There are plenty of restaurants that will allow you to eat, drink and soak up that wonderful Maine scenery and salty air. But, people tend to forget that the ocean isn't the only source of waterfront wonder! Our lakes and rivers are pretty phenomenal as well and today we've rounded up some of the best restaurants on rivers in the state. Head to these spots when you want to try something new!

1. Rick's Cafe, on the Causeway and Long Lake, Naples

Rick's Cafe is the spot to be during the summertime in Naples. With an upper deck and a patio fit for those who love to have a good time, you'll want to be at Rick's for any holiday or special occasion. The menu is deliciously diverse and if that doesn't convince you, come for just one sunset. You'll be sold! Visit them at: Route 302 Causeway, Naples / (207) 693-3759

2. River Drivers Restaurant, Across Millinocket Lake, Millinocket

River Drivers isn't on an actual River, but given that it's got the body of water in its name and the view is incredible, we felt it had to be included. People love coming to see the marvel that is Katahdin, others head here on Friday nights for the $10 fish fry. We say that either reason makes perfect sense. Visit them at: 30 Twin Pines Rd., Millinocket / (207) 723-8475

3. David's KPT, Kennebunk River, Kennebunkport

Executive chef, David Turin, is the one to thank for this waterfront spot on the Kennebunk River. They've got unique New American cuisine with wonderful views.

Pop in for the beloved open-faced lobster Ravioli. Visit them at: 21 Ocean Ave., Kennebunkport / (207) 967-8225

4. The Run of The Mill Public House and Brewery, Saco River, Saco

The area's only brewpub also happens to have prime real estate overlooking the Saco River! You can sample 23 varieties of beers via their 14-barrels! During summer, the deck gets hopping so come early! Visit them at: 100 Main St., Saco / (207) 571-9648

5. Mill Bridge Restaurant, Fish River, Fort Kent

The views from the Mill Bridge Restaurant will make you feel like your nestled in the forest. Which is good because it's true. The Fish River runs through the trees just below the windows and the specials are delicious. Visit them at: 271 Market St., Fort Kent / Highlights info row image

(207) 834-4445

7. Sea Dog Brewing Company, Androscoggin River, Topsham

Just about on top of the roaring (or babbling, depending on your definition) is one of the three locations of Sea Dog Brewing Company. Serving typical pub fare, along with some great beers, this is a great bet during any season. Visit them at: 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Topsham / (207) 725-0162

8. The Lost Kitchen, Sandy Stream, Liberty

This restaurant located in a restored grist mill on Sandy Stream is completely worth the drive out to reach it. Erin French is completely self-taught. Using recipes passed down from her family, she's improved upon them to make them uniquely her own. The kitchen is manned with those she considers friends, who share her love of locally sourced ingredients and beautifully prepared foods. You can find The Lost Kitchen about 17 miles inland from Belfast, in the mid-coast region of Maine. Call them for reservations: (207) 382-3333.
