This 82-Year Old Diner Is One Of The Most Nostalgic Destinations In Louisiana
If you went to LSU or grew up in the Baton Rouge area, then you are all too familiar with Louie’s Cafe. Located in the shadows of LSU’s campus, this historic eatery is one of the best places to eat in Baton Rouge. Whether you’re just visiting Baton Rouge for a weekend or you’re a college student on the hunt for a home-cooked meal, Louie’s is the place to be.
Louie’s has been a favorite pit stop for Tiger fans since it opened back in 1941.
Back in my day (ew) Louie’s was open 24 hours. Understandably so, they’ve changed their operating hours to 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. seven days a week.
If you were a part of the krewe who spent many late nights/early mornings at Louie’s, you know this place well.
Even the decor is nostalgic. Louie’s iconic 50s-themed dining room makes you feel right at home from the moment you step inside. Louie's can get fairly busy during peak hours, and you may find yourself waiting for a table. Your patience will be rewarded!
Louie's Cafe is known for its epic breakfast menu, which is served all day long.
We all know that breakfast just tastes better when it's not breakfast time. Plus, breakfast is the perfect food to eat after a night of...studying... :)
Whether you prefer a sweet breakfast...
...or a savory breakfast, there's something for everyone on the menu at Louie's Cafe.
And the portions are huge! Pictures above is a seafood omelette, one of Louie's signature dishes.
No visit to Louie’s is complete without trying the hash browns.
These mountains of hash browns will cure whatever ails you. Get yours plain or load them up with as many toppings as you want!
From burgers to eggs Benedict, Louie's lengthy menu ensures you'll find something to satisfy those cravings.
