Iowa's hardworking farms help feed the world, and some of the state's restaurants celebrate the industry in a delicious way. From restaurants that serve diners in repurposed barns to cafes located on working farms, there are plenty of places to find a great farm-fresh meal. Feeling hungry? Here's where to find something delicious.
1. Harvestville Farm
This 5th generation farm in rural Southeast Iowa hosts seasonal events like lavender and sunflower festivals. The farm's Pitchfork Cafe serves delicious sandwiches, salads and stone fired pizza.
2. The Wallace Centers of Iowa
Sustainability never tasted better than at the Wallace Center's summer pizza on the farm events. Thousands of Iowa residents agree: the pizza at these events is delicious.
3. Bloomsbury Farm
In Atkins, this farm is a rural escape that holds special events throughout the growing season. It has a great farmers market and a farm store as well as a patio where you can enjoy refreshing beer, wine and snacks.
4. Teddy’s Bar & Grill
This three level 1958 remodeled round-roof barn in Anamosa is a restaurant that serves some of the most delicious steaks in Iowa. It also has some great sandwiches, burgers and more.
5. LT Organic Farm Restaurant
Taste fresh and healthy foods in this Waukee restaurant. Enjoy Indian, Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine made with fresh local foods.
6. The Machine Shed
This popular restaurant opened its first location in 1978 in Davenport, Iowa. The business took off and there are now six locations. You won't find any parked farm implements in this machine shed - just some of the best farm to table food around.
7. Luna Valley Farm
This Decorah farm is a destination that draws summer crowds. It's open from June - October for wood fired pizza, glamping and pastured meat sales. The pizza is fresh and amazing!
