It's no secret that we here at Only In Your State are big fans of hearing from you, our dear friends and readers. Sometimes, we'll ask for feature recommendations from you at the end of articles (usually by filling out this form), and sometimes we'll get a flood of recommendations from you about, well, many of the same places! More often than not, you guys let us know loud and clear what your favorite places to eat in Indiana are just by the sheer number of recommendations we get for them, so today, let's take a look at what appears to be a favorite topic among OIYS foodies: the best BBQ in Indiana, as recommended by readers in the form of (sometimes dozens of) suggestions. Bring your appetite. You'll need it.
1. Jefferson Street Barbecue
Jefferson Street Barbecue has lit up our suggestions inbox over the years, and it's easy to see why. Folks rave about the absolutely insane brisket, the tender pulled pork, and the excellent service, and we agree - it doesn't get a whole lot more amazing than Jefferson Street!
2. Trax BBQ
Trax BBQ is the second-most-suggested barbecue place in Indiana that we hear about, and upon checking it out, it's definitely obvious as to why this is. There is nothing on the menu here that isn't perfect. Seriously. It's an unbelievably delicious experience waiting to be had!
3. Ben’s BBQ Shack
Ben's BBQ Shack is one of those amazing places to eat in Indiana that will blow you away from the first bite. Everything is the perfect combination of tender, flavorful, and saucy, and like with the other spots on this list, it's incredibly easy to see why this one's an all-time fan fave.
4. Big JT’S Craft BBQ
Oh, Big JT's Craft BBQ, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. There's nothing Big JT's does wrong, and based on the numerous suggestions about the brisket and fall-off-the-bone ribs, it looks like Hoosiers agree.
5. Hickory Hillz BBQ
We're pretty sure that Hickory Hillz BBQ is one of the best spots on this list, and that's saying something remarkable. The suggestions for this one are off the charts, with folks mentioning the ribs over and over and over again (much to our pleasure). Seriously, we're not even sure how we managed to browse the official website without trying to lick our computer screens.
6. The Backroads BBQ
Last on this list but in no way least for, well, anything, is the much-celebrated The Backroads BBQ, which has a couple of locations around the Hoosier State (but we got the most recommendations for the Lebanon location). Again, there is nothing here you can possibly go wrong with. Ever. It's something else entirely, and we are here for it.
There you have it, readers: the best BBQ joints in Indiana, as suggested by YOU! Which amazing barbecue places in Indiana would you have added to this list? You know what to do: send us a recommendation and you might just see it featured someday.
