Order Amazing Donuts At This Roadside Stop In Georgia

Long-time readers of Only In Georgia know that we're fans of donuts. After all, there aren't many desserts that are portable, relatively mess-free, come in a variety of flavors, and can be purchased so easily in a convenient pack of one dozen. There's no shortage of great donuts in Georgia, and one of the best spots we've found is Diesel Donuts in Jefferson. This little shop is right on the small town's main square, making it a convenient roadside stop not far from the highway. Next time you're passing through on a road trip, make sure to stop by and pick up a tasty treat for the road!

This shop is quite tiny. It's located right on the historic square in Jefferson, a small city in Jackson County with plenty of attractions. It's not far from U.S. Route 129, which runs from Florida up to Tennessee.

Despite its smaller size, there's a lot to do in this rapidly-growing city. You'll find several cute gift shops and restaurants around the square, and there are often festivals or events going on.

Diesel Donuts is located in what was once an old filling station back in the 1950s and 1960s. Inside, you'll see vintage signs and other memorabilia that hark back to the building's former use.

There are a couple of tables for indoor dining, and many opt to eat outside on the lovely patio area.

The big variety of fresh-baked goods can make it difficult to pick a reasonable number of items! Cinnamon rolls, cannolis, muffins, pies, and more are all on the menu, but the donuts are the star of the show here.

All the donuts are baked fresh each day, and there's so many flavors to choose from. You'll want to arrive early in the morning, when there's a full selection.

It's tempting to just focus on the sweets, but don't neglect the bagels here! They're imported from New York City and have an incredible flavor.

There are even a few bagel sandwiches on the menu if you'd like something a little more filling.

Accompany your meal or sweet treat with a locally-brewed Jittery Joe's coffee. All of Diesel Donuts' coffee is provided by this Athens-based roaster. You can get hot, cold, or frozen delights here, so there's something for everyone.
