Tartine Manufactory in San Francisco is a repurposed ceramics tile factory turned into a bakery, all-day eatery, and ice cream shop known for its seasonal and innovative menu.
When it comes to repurposing and reimagining classic structures, San Francisco is definitely at the forefront. At the Tartine Manufactory, you’ll experience a former ceramics tile factory ambiance turned bakery, all-day eatery, and ice cream shop.
Located at 18th and Alabama just a few blocks from Franklin Square, the Tartine Manufactory sits inside of the former Heath Ceramics tile factory.
This fabulous architectural building conversion is now home to the Tartine Bakery, an all-day eatery, and ice cream shop. They also serve amazing coffee drinks and outstanding wines and beers.
Folks come from all over the Bay Area to not just eat but experience this amazing warehouse transformation.
The large windows let in lots of natural light, giving the dining room a spacious and airy feeling.
The menu at Tartine Manufactory focuses on, what the proprietors say, is “What's in season, what's timeless, what's good.”
For example, this innovative Patty Melt is taken to an entirely new level with a snappy kohlrabi kraut and thousand island fontina cheese dressing. Yum!
Because the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu spans the gamut.
For dinner, how about this outstanding ribeye steak main entrée?
The delicious artisan breads, rustic elegant pastries, and creative breakfast items are out of this world.
Here, Coddled Eggs are served with a delicate smoked trout roe resting on a za’atar toast bed and paired with a glass of sparkling champagne. For their pizzas, the crusts are baked in a special wood fired brick oven.
Once you spy this being served at the next table, you’ll know you have to leave room for dessert!
This Yecoro rojo date cake made with seasonal cherries and puffed rice will have you salivating for days thereafter.
In addition to this 18th and Alabama location, in the Bay Area there’s another Tartine Bakery on Guerrero Street in the Mission, and one on 9th Street in the Inner Sunset. There are also five locations in Los Angeles, and six in Seoul, South Korea.
