Sip Cocktails On A Real Carousel At San Diego’s Most Whimsical Bar And Bistro

For me, carousels have always held a certain enchantment - something about the ornate details, the mirrors, the pretty lights, and of course, the horses. So, you can imagine how I felt when I discovered this carousel-themed bar in San Diego, CA (that is now on my bucket list). It is the perfect blend of whimsy and elegance that you can’t help but be drawn to.

Located in San Diego's Little Italy, Wolfie’s Carousel Bar is more than, well, a bar - it is an immersive world that transports visitors to another time and place.

The stunning centerpiece of this bar and bistro is the fully functioning merry-go-round bar. In every way, it evokes the feeling of a vintage carousel, illuminated with some 400 lightbulbs - and yes, it moves!

The bar itself may not have horses, but there are horses to be found - they are suspended over the pretty birdcage booths, extending the carousel vibe.

The 18th-century French paintings and grand murals whisk you back in time while carefully placed “Easter eggs” (little modern images in the paintings) add a touch of playfulness and surprise. From the inlaid brick floor to the etched mirrors overhead, there is so much to take in!

The Paris theme carries through to the exquisite craft cocktails. Even the glassware makes you feel a world away. Naturally, you can also order one of several fine wines and Champagnes.

The French-inspired food menu includes classic choices like Beef Bourguignon, Moules Frites, escargots, French onion soup, and fresh baguettes.

This fanciful experience is not limited to nightlife, either. Come in for “Lé Brunch” and enjoy Brûlée French toast, Croque Monsieur, an amazing cheese and fruit plate, and of course, irresistible (if you have a sweet tooth like me) beignets.
