Sip Honey Wine and Jam to Live Music at This Award-Winning Meadery in Arkansas

Plan a trip to Juniper Tree Meadery in Paragould, AR. This award-winning winery is a great place to kick back, sip honey wine and vibe to live music.

If you’re not from Arkansas, you would probably think that the state has nothing but Hot Springs, small towns, and the Ozarks. But I’m here to tell you that is the furthest thing from the truth. Especially when you visit northeast Arkansas where there are up-and-coming towns like Paragould which offer one-of-a-kind experiences. For example, Juniper Tree Meadery is one of the most unique wineries in the state. Not only can you sip honey wine here, but you can also listen to live music and enjoy delicious food. If you ask me, this award-winning winery in Arkansas is a great place for a weekend day trip.

For those of us who are not wine connoisseurs, Mead is an adult beverage made from fermented honey. This process of wine fermentation has been around for many years. It gives the wine a very distinct flavor, especially when combined with fruits, spices, and grains. If you prefer a sweeter wine, chances are, you can find it here.

Not many wineries in Arkansas process wine in this way, so you know you’re getting something truly unique when you visit Juniper Tree Meadery. The Meadery began several years ago as the brainchild of co-owner Lynn Childers, head Mead maker, who has a master’s degree in biology. What began as an experimental hobby, with the help and support of his wife Deondra, turned into a dream come true. The name derives from the Juniper Tree which represents “an ancient symbol of life and provision.” I love that the Meadery is dedicated to saving the population of honeybees by providing a demand for honey products that are locally sourced.

Over the years, the Meadery has won many awards for its one-of-a-kind blends. Some of the unique flavors include Peachy Keen, Angry Earl, and Elderberry. Also, you can find seasonal blends like the Queen's Nectar, which is a sparkling Mead made with orange blossom honey. If you’re a beer drinker, you’ll be happy to know that the Meadery has Mead beer on tap that is available in flights.

Today, it’s a great spot to kick back, sip sweet or semi-dry wine, especially on the weekends. In addition to the pour, the wine-tasting experience features mix and match Mead and beer flights, you’ll get a branded Juniper Tree Meadery wine glass, as well as learn information about winemaking. Don’t skip over one of the light appetizers that will be a perfect complement to your drinks.

The best time to visit this winery is on the weekends when you can jam to live music, savor delicious food, and enjoy special events. Bring the kids along for the movie nights and the fruity slushies. On colder evenings, snuggle up next to a fire pit and take in the views of the scenic pond. The Meadery also offers special events like wine-making classes, which would be a great idea for a date night.

So, if you enjoy honey wine, live music, good food, and a chill vibe, then plan a road trip to northeast Arkansas soon. I have no doubt that you will enjoy this unique experience. Juniper Tree Meadery is the place to be!
