For anyone who doesn’t know, Florida is home to over 700 springs, which happens to be the largest collection on earth! Many of these springs are fed from a deep, underground aquifer that keeps the water at a cool temperature, usually around 72 degrees. How incredible is that?! While we can rattle on all day about the incredible Florida springs, we want to take the time to highlight one in particular - Juniper Springs. Juniper Springs in Florida is one of the oldest and best-known family-friendly spots in the state, and we have a few beautiful reasons why you need to plan a visit.
Juniper Springs Recreation Area in Silver Springs, Florida is one of the coolest recreation spots on the east coast.
Feeding what is seemingly a tropical paradise are hundreds of small bubbling springs, as well as massive ones, pumping out cool water all day long.
Nestled in a beautiful forested area of palms and oaks, visitors can spend the afternoon swimming but also staying shaded.
What makes this spring so unique is its construction. Built back in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the pool itself is built with surrounding walls which makes it more visitor-friendly.
With a campground nearby, guests can spend a whole weekend in Juniper Springs, whether exploring the waterways by canoe or swimming the day away.
If you’re just visiting for the day, you can pack a picnic lunch and bring a blanket and towels to set up shop close to the water.
There are tons of walking trails throughout the area too, so you can see the local flora and fauna as you jaunt along the pathways.
Gather the family and bring them all for a day under the sunshine at this historically happening swimming hole in Florida.
