This Funky Little Town In Florida Is A True Hidden Gem
A weekend away at one of the most ecclectic, weird, and off-beat small towns in Florida might be just what you need. This hidden gem of a town has a unique history within the state, but also has become world renowned in some regard. Don’t believe us? Well, it might just be in the stars that your next trip will be to the Psychic Capital of the World.
Cassadaga, Florida is one of the funkiest, most eclectic towns in the south.
For those looking for a small town adventure that is a bit out of the ordinary, let a trip to Cassadaga be it. Nicknamed unofficially as the Psychic Capital of the World, what makes Cassadaga so unique is that there are so many psychics living here, it has become a supernatural haven for many.
Nestled in the backwoods between Orlando and Daytona, Cassadaga looks like any other small Florida town on the outside.
But this town has been a sanctuary for mediums, psychics, spiritualists, healers and more. In the late 1800s, The Spiritualist Camp in Cassadaga was founded by a man named George P. Colby. Colby was said to have been instructed by his spirit guide to travel to Florida and open a spiritual center.
Cassadaga has grown over the years, becoming a funky town that snowbirds and other vacationers flock to in order to get their own taste of spirituality.
While not extremely big in size, Cassadaga features a hotel, central auditorium, community library, healing center, camp bookstore, welcome center and Memorial Temple. In 1991, Cassadaga became recognized as a United States Historic District, making it a more popular choice for weekenders looking to explore a bit of Florida fun.
If you’re looking to spend a weekend at this funky, spiritual town, we recommend staying at the Cassadaga Hotel.
As you might have imagined, this hotel is said to be haunted, which can’t be too far from the truth with all those spirits roaming freely. The good news is, the hotel website even states that the spirits are of the friendly sort, so think more Casper and less Paranormal Activity.
Guests have the opportunity to schedule a reading with any medium in town while they visit, in order to get a glimpse into the unknown.
Perhaps you don’t believe in this sort of thing, but sometimes it is fun to just explore a new town and become immersed into their personal way of life. In Cassadaga, this means opening up to the weird, and the bizarre, and the downright funky at times.
Or maybe you just want to blend in with the locals and snag a few games of Bingo at the local club.
Though, we can't guarantee that all the psychics that join in on the Bingo fun won't known in advance who is going to win and who will walk away empty-handed.
For those Floridians who are looking for a weekend away in one of the most eclectic and spiritually charged places in the state, look no further.
Not only can you explore a bit of the other side while you’re there, but you also can stay in a haunted hotel, have your aura read, and see how the Psychic Capital of the World lives.
