This unique, surreal, colorful, and inspiring art space was created by The Utah Arts Alliance, and it's waiting for you to explore. What Is Dreamscapes?
Are you ready to step into a dream? You can do exactly that at the aptly named Dreamscapes museum in Salt Lake City. This unique attraction was created collectively by over 100 artists, builders, and audio-visual experts, and it's unlike anywhere you've ever been before.
Dreamscapes began as a temporary art experience at the 2017 ILLUMINATE: Light Art and Technology Festival. Dreamscapes was so popular at that event that the Utah Art Alliance decided to figure out a way to keep it going longer. In Spring 2018, the group opened Dreamscapes 1 in a longer-term space, intending to host it as a three-month pop-up exhibit. That, too, was incredibly popular, so it stayed open far longer than that. Then, in February 2021, it continued in a new space. Today, it has returned to The Gateway, located at 16 N Rio Grande St.
What To Expect Inside Dreamscapes
When you visit Dreamscapes, you'll have the opportunity to wander through room upon room of curious and intriguing immersive art spaces covering an impressive amount of space. The art here is all around you, and you will, indeed, feel like you are deep inside a crazy and beautiful dreamland. You'll pass through the bottom of the ocean, forests, caves, and places beyond our reality.
All of the art that you'll find at Dreamscapes is made from recycled and donated materials. Over 68,000 pounds of materials have been donated so far, and the creators who work there, along with help from volunteers, collaborate to create art that is special, unique, and incredible in every way. In fact, Dreamscapes is Utah's first environmentally sustainable immersive art experience.
Tips for Your Visit
Dreamscapes is just one of many projects and activities by the Utah Arts Alliance. Through facilities, festivals, and other unique programming, this organization supports over 2,000 artists across multiple disciplines, serving over 200,000 people in Utah each year. The people behind this organization simply love bringing art to Utahns. When you visit this amazing space, take your time to experience all of the unusual and incredible works that it has to offer. You're sure to find plenty of photo opportunities within it, so be sure to bring your camera.

If you find yourself completely enamored with this very special place, you might consider volunteering there, too. Dreamscapes needs hard workers to help paint, organize, build, and make the "dreams" of their team of artists a reality. Dreamscapes is a hidden gem in Utah, and everyone who visits it leaves with memories that they'll never forget. You're going to love everything about this place — the air conditioning in the heat of the summer, sure — but everything else about it, too.
To visit this amazing, colorful exhibit, a little planning can go a long way. Head over to the official Dreamscapes website to purchase tickets in advance. Dreamscapes is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12 p.m. til 9 p.m.
