This Haunted Tunnel In Tennessee Is Not For The Faint Of Heart
Sensabaugh Tunnel in Church Hill, Tennessee, is a haunted site known for its eerie legends and ghostly encounters.
October is just around the corner, and that means all the scary, creepy and downright terrifying bits of fall are sure to follow. We love the colors of the leaves, but it's also fun to find a scary story that's so close to home. If you're located in Kingsport, then you're in luck - the most haunted tunnel is right around the corner.
Located in Church Hill, Tennessee, Sensabaugh Tunnel is rickety and crumbling, walls scarred with graffiti. It's located off of the main road, so the tunnel isn't consistently used. Really, it's just a place for thrill-seekers and locals who are looking to take a dare.
The tunnel gets its name from the Sensabaugh family ruling patriarch. He built the tunnel in the 1920's and legend has it he murdered his wife and daughter only a handful of years later. Legend has it that he dumped their bodies in the tunnel. Broken by grief and angry and what he did, he wandered the woods and tunnel for years. Why he didn't go to jail? Well, the legend doesn't quite cover that part...he's a wandering madman. What else is needed?
Ghost hunters say that you can hear the screams of his daughter and wife through the darkness of the tunnel, as well. People report that their ignition cuts at the tunnel entrance with the engine refusing to turn over. It's said that the ghost of Mr. Sensabaugh is there, at the entrance of the tunnel, waiting.
Hawkins County takes the cake on this one. We're terrified to take a drive to the other side, because you know - you have to turn around. Two for one over here, two frights bound to the bravery of a single drive.
Plus, this drive through the tunnel is just too real for us to deal. Really.

So creepy...are you psyched for October now? Because we're ready for ALL the scary! And pumpkin spice lattes, of course.
