Summer brings the promise of lazy days, sunny skies, and poolside lounging or visits to fun waterparks perfect for cooling off. Some of our waterparks even have lazy rivers where we can float on top of the water while soaking in the sun's rays. Did you know we have a lazy river in South Carolina that's 1,000 feet long? It's the perfect place to spend some of those lazy summer days!
We'll be traveling to Carowinds, which straddles the South Carolina-North Carolina border, to enjoy this long, cool lazy river in South Carolina.
Carolina Harbor is a popular waterpark attraction at the 407-acre amusement park that is Carowinds, which has been drawing crowds for summer fun since 1973.
Giant water slides, wave pools, a three-acre children's area, a boogie board racer, and more await inside Carolina Harbor at Carowinds.
The lazy river is called Coastal Currents and has a minimum height requirement of 42 inches to participate without a life jacket and supervising companion.
The South Carolina Coastal Currents lazy river winds for 1,000 feet through both North and South Carolina, so you'll get to pass through two states while enjoying a relaxing float along the river.
Also inside Carolina Harbor are cabanas that you can rent to have a place for everyone in your group or family to gather when not in the water.
Order a signature frozen cocktail to enjoy by the pool at Schooners Beach Bar, located across from Surf Club Harbor in Carolina Harbor.
And when you're ready to replenish the calories expended at the waterpark, Harbor House serves delicious sweet battered shrimp, a guest favorite, along with cucumber and tomato salad, and more!
A float along the Coastal Currents lazy river in South Carolina is a summer bucket list must. You may even want to book a hotel room at Comfort Inn At the Park, located about half a mile from Carowinds, as you're sure to be tired after a day in the sun!
