Springtime in the Palmetto State is easily one of our favorite seasons. It's nice to get outside and play a bit before the sweltering heat of summer arrives. So why not try something new and head to Bluffton for its annual Mayfest taking place the first Saturday in May? This is one spring festival in South Carolina you'll end up adding to your bucket list year after year!
First celebrated in Germany as "Maifest," this annual festival was carried across the ocean by immigrants and eventually made its way to Bluffton, where 2022 will see the city's 42 iteration of the fun family event.
It takes place in Old Towne Bluffton on Calhoun Street on Saturday, May 7th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.
Come on over to celebrate the arrival of spring with delicious food - and lots of it.
Scoot up and down Calhoun Street enjoying browsing the handcrafted items from more than 150 vendors from around the Southeast.
Settle in to watch some local entertainment. The stage will be hoppin' all day, culminating in the featured performer this year: Kelly Logan Graham.
Oh, and there's also the Ugly Dog Contest, where no matter who wins, they're all cute and adorable!
Come hungry and salivate a little as you watch the annual pie eating contest.
Pies are yummy, but can you see yourself eating an entire pie without using your hands??
