The BSA BBQ Cook-Off in Sumter, South Carolina, offers delicious barbecue while supporting the Boy Scouts of America.

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to enjoy amazing food while supporting a good cause, especially one that helps children? And especially when it involves delicious barbecue?! What is it with us South Carolinians and BBQ? Anywho… you’re definitely not going to want to miss the BSA BBQ Cook-Off in South Carolina, coming up soon!

For over ten years, a BBQ cook-off has been held in Sumter to support the Boy Scouts of America.

You can attend just for fun and to taste some delicious barbecue, or you can compete with your own BBQ concoctions. You never know where this could lead, as the competition barbecue circuit is where the founder of the BBQ joint with a cult following in South Carolina got his start!

And what could be better than coming together to sample tasty barbecue while supporting a worthy cause?

Founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America are a longstanding tradition with about 110 million Americans having participated in boy scout programs through these many years. One of the largest youth organizations in the country, its mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Now, judging the competition entries will be none other than the South Carolina Barbecue Association, which was founded in 2004 to train the best BBQ judges in the world and to preserve and promote the unique nature of South Carolina barbecue. We take the honor of being the birthplace of BBQ very seriously!

In 2022, Tailgater Hater placed in two categories, first place in ribs and second in butts. There's also a wings category. Who will win this year?!

Your entertainment for the Friday night (March 24th) Wing Ding is going to be the Bad Water band, which plays a wide variety of classic rock, southern rock, '90s rock, alt-rock, and country. So you're getting a music treat with this event, too!

Then for the Saturday, March 25th Pork BBQ Tasting, you'll be enjoying music by Middle Ground. What a fun event... mark your calendar and secure your tickets now!
