Living in Rhode Island means easy access to the water pretty much anywhere we go. We're lucky enough to be able to see seals, dolphins, and whales in their natural habitat. Now we can get an even closer look at some of the majestic creatures that call the ocean, and specifically Narragansett Bay, home when we visit this family-friendly aquarium in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island aquarium opened in late March 2024.
A truly unique destination in Newport, the 7,500-square-foot aquarium's residents are all from and eventually will return to Narragansett Bay.
Hamilton Family Aquarium is part of Save the Bay, a non-profit organization that, since 1970, has worked to improve and protect the bay while working to ensure it is accessible to everyone.
If you want to see everything, carve out at least a few hours for your visit. You'll get a glimpse of a variety of landscapes, including salt marshes, rocky shores, and sandy bottoms.

If you're bringing young children, smaller strollers are best. The aquarium recommends leaving large strollers and wagons at home.
