Passayunk Square is one of the most underrated neighborhoods in Philadelphia. With fewer crowds than Center City and a safer environment than Kensington, the streets around East Passayunk Avenue have experienced some revitalization in recent years, with exciting dining, entertainment and shopping scenes.
Passayunk Square is a south Philadelphia neighborhood bordered by 6th Street, Broad Street, Washington and Tasker.
It's a neighborhood known for having a diverse group of hispanic, italian, and (recently) millennials.
Dine at some of the finest restaurants in the city, like Fond, Izumi, or more.
Some of the best restaurants in Philadelphia are located in Passayunk Square, including Townsend, Le Virtu, Laurel and Sate Kampar. No matter what you want to eat, you'll find plenty of variety and mouthwatering dishes in the neighborhood.
Rock out at Boot and Saddle, a hidden gem of a concert venue off of Broad Street.
On the far west edge of Passayunk Square, you'll find one of the best music rooms in the city, in the back of a bar called Boot and Saddle. I've been to plenty of Philadelphia concert venues, and the sound here really fills up the room, in a great way.
Dance the night away at the Dolphin... if you're into that sort of thing.
The Dolphin definitely draws an interesting crowd, and some of the best people watching in Philadelphia occurs here. Though there have been a few scandals here, the history is interesting, for sure, and their dance party nights are the most fun you'll have on a dance floor.
Meet up at the singing fountain!
South Philly's singing fountain is an iconic meeting spot, perfect for photo opportunties, and often surrounded by performers. On any given day, you'll hear Sinatra tunes coming from the fountain itself.
Walk a few streets north to the lively Italian Market
Though the Italian Market is in Bella Vista, it's only a short walk away from anywhere in Passayunk Square, and it's worth exploring on any given day for great food and shopping.
And go out on the town - up and down East Passayunk Avenue.
The entire neighborhood is full of great bars, from Adobe to POPE (the Pub on Passayunk East), and you won't have to walk far to find a good place for a night out with friends. Whether you want margaritas or want to hang out at a whiskey bar, keep your eyes peeled and you'll certainly find what you're looking for.
With so much to do, Passayunk is one of the best neighborhoods in Philadelphia for exploration and entertainment. If you love exploring the lesser known areas of Philadelphia, you'll want to read up on The 10 Best Places To Live In Philadelphia!
