It's no surprise Oklahomans make some amazing products. From gourmet chocolates to American made jeans to pecan pies, we're famous around the country for some pretty cool things. But did you know you have the opportunity to visit four fantastic factories to see how these products are made? Don't miss the chance to see the "magic" happen in person at these factories that still offer tours.
Check them out this summer:
1. Bedre Fine Chocolates - 37 North Colbert Road, Davis
Bedre Fine Chocolates has a passion for making fine chocolates. They are known across the country for their premium chocolates that are made right here in Davis, Oklahoma. You can visit the state-of-the-art, 34,600 square-foot manufacturing facility to see the production in real-life and stop into the gift shop to purchase many gift products or sample the chocolate. During the self-guided tour you can watch through the floor-to-ceiling windows as the delicious treats become reality. The store is open Monday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please note: Manufacturing may not be in operation during these hours.
2. Round House Manufacturing - 1 American Way, Shawnee
Round House is the world's largest and oldest maker of Made in USA jeans and overalls. They make about 1,000 pairs of jeans and overalls everyday in Oklahoma and other locations. They have been in business for over 112 years and have remained a staple of American craftsmanship. They are also manufacturers of the LARGEST PAIR OF OVERALLS in the WORLD.They only offer tours of their facility to groups of 30 or more, due to high demand. 3. Field's Pies - 100 Fields Row, Pauls Valley
Field's Pecan Pie Factory started in 1922 when Mrs. Field began making pies in her kitchen in small town, Pauls Valley. Today, the factory makes over 3 million pies per year with the same great recipe Mrs. Field's started with. The factory is over 13,00 sq. feet and includes a 100 foot oven. Field's delivers pies to over 23 states and has made Oklahoma famous for its pies. The factory makes German Chocolate, Lemon Chess and Pumpkin pies, but 85% of its production is Pecan Pie. You can purchase pies right from the gift shop in Pauls Valley, along with pie crusts, pie dough and native pecans.
4. Braums Dairy Farms - 491 County Road 2880, Tuttle
Head to Tuttle, Oklahoma to one of the largest farms in the state - Braums Dairy Farms. Braums offers FREE tours of their farm and facility to show guests how all the magic works in creating its delicious ice-cream and products. Visitors get to watch them make ice cream, ice cream cones, cookies, milk and more. Tours of the Braums Processing Plant and Bakery are provided Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Advanced reservations are required and you can book your tour by calling the Braum’s Tour Reservation Line at 405-228-4604.
