Spring in Oklahoma is widely known for its tornadoes but there's also something else we are kind of famous for this time of year - the annual Azalea Festival in Oklahoma. This bucket-worthy flower festival in Oklahoma is one of the top spring events in the country and features 40 acres of gorgeous azaleas, tulips, and wisteria. This Oklahoma spring festival is held during the whole month of April at Honor Heights Park and is free of charge to attend.
The 2024 Azalea Festival runs April 1-30 at Honor Heights Park in Muskogee. The park is open daily and is free of charge to enter.
This spring festival is considered one of the top spring events in the nation and has been taking place every year since 1968. People travel from all over the world to witness the beauty that lies within Muskogee.
There are over 30,000 azaleas in bloom with over 600 different varieties.
...including this purple azalea that is bursting with pops of purple. Azaleas can have no scent at all, or be highly fragranced. As you're walking around the park, you'll smell lovely scents from some of the different varieties.
You can drive or walk in the park. We highly recommend you take a stroll so you can see all the beauty up close and personal.
The festival also features thousands of breathtaking tulips that are in full bloom.
You'll also find five lakes and many beautiful ponds with water fountains and picturesque spots to sit and enjoy the scenery.
But that's not all you'll find at the festival. There are special events during the month of April with food, arts & crafts, live entertainment, and much more.
