There's something about fall in Ohio. During the fall season, our country roads are ablaze with color, our small towns seem more charming than usual, and our covered bridges come alive with the magic that only autumn can bring. The following are eight of our favorite covered bridges in Ohio. They're beautiful, historic, and fun to explore. This fall, hop in the car and chase some Ohio covered bridges.
1. The Bridge of Dreams - Brinkhaven
This 370-foot-long bridge was built in the 1920s and originally used as a railroad bridge. It was covered in 1996. The Bridge of Dreams stretches over the Mohican River along the Mohican Valley Trail in Brinkhaven. Follow along on a family walk through the Bridge of Dreams:
2. Everett Covered Bridge - Peninsula
Everett Covered Bridge is the only remaining covered bridge in Summit County. Built in the 19th century, it played an important role in the transportation system for the Ohio & Erie Canals. It crosses Furnace Run at Everett Road in Peninsula within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
3. Mohican Covered Bridge - Loudonville
Mohican State Park features a beautiful and memorable covered bridge that's a popular stop for hikers before they venture to Lyons Falls. See this covered bridge from multiple angles:

5. Teegarden Centennial Covered Bridge - Salem
This Columbiana County bridge crosses Little Beaver Creek on Eagleton Road near Salem. It was built in 1876 and is currently only open to pedestrian traffic.
6. Hueston Woods Covered Bridge - College Corner
Preble County and Hueston Woods State Park is home to one of Ohio's newest covered bridges. Completed in 2012, this bridge over Four Mile Creek on Camden College Corner Road features a nearby water hole and picnic area. Take a walk through the Hueston Woods Covered Bridge:
7. Harra Covered Bridge - Waterford
Waterford is home to this quaint and historic bridge, which was built in 1875 and served daily traffic until the late 20th-century. It spans the South Branch of Wolf Creek near the intersection of State Route 339 and Township Road 172.
8. Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge - Plymouth and Ashtabula Township
The Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge is 613 feet long, stretching State Road across the picturesque Ashtabula River. It's both Ohio and America's longest covered bridge. (Take some time to get out and stretch your legs at Indian Trails Park, which features a trail system right beneath the bridge at the Ashtabula River gulf.)
