There are some truly weird places in New Orleans, that's one of the things I love about the city the most. There is always somewhere that you can go and feel like maybe you aren't so strange after all. Here are 11 of the weirdest places in New Orleans.
1) Zotz Coffee Shop, 8210 Oak St.
This eclectic coffee shop on Oak St. is filled with board games and strange decorative items that will make even the most alternative person feel right at home.
2) The Dungeon, 738 Toulouse St.
This iconic French Quarter bar has been home to more than one scandalous event and is definitely worth an exploration.
3) Monteleone’s Carousel Bar, 214 Royal St.
Yes, this bar actually moves as you sit at it. In a circle. If you're prone to dizziness, I would say avoid, but otherwise, get ready for an amazing night.
4) Mystery Room at Antoine’s, 713 St. Louis Street
Known as the oldest restaurant in New Orleans, Antoine's is home to the mystery room, a place for clandestine alcohol consumption in prohibition days.
5) House of Broel, 2220 St.Charles Ave.
This place doesn't look too strange from the outside, but there are some truly unique objects to be found inside of here.
6) Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo, 739 Bourbon St.
To immerse yourself in all of Voodoo lore, check out this unique house of voodoo things. There are quite a few voodoo shops in the French Quarter, but this is by far the best.
7) Pharmacy Museum, 514 Chartres St.
Go back in time and explore all the ways doctors and others used medicine years ago. Some truly strange practices!
8) The Great American Alligator Museum, 2051 Magazine St.
What's so strange about this Alligator Museum? The way it just sits there...for years it's just been a sign and a dream...and made many passerby wonder if it will ever be a museum like this.
9) St. Roch Cemetery, 1725 St. Roch Ave.
This very unique cemetery is home to many relics in honor of St. Roch, who is known to help those who suffer from physical disabilities.
10) Dr. Bob Art!, 3027 Chartres St. 1
Dr. Bob might just be the premiere folk artist of New Orleans and his beautiful designs and very surprising pieces.
11) Insectarium, 423 Canal St.
Stop by the downtown Insectarium to see some truly amazing displays of insects in the area.
