There’s A Whimsical Village Hiding In New Orleans And You Need To See it
The Music Box Village in New Orleans offers a unique, interactive musical experience in a whimsical sculpture garden.
New Orleans is no stranger to music, that’s for sure. From Jazz to Zydeco, you’re never too far from a live performance here in New Orleans. That’s something that’s so special about this city — the ability to hear live music just about any time of the day. But what about creating your own? Well, if you head down to the Bywater area, you’ll find a whimsical village that’s perfect for just that.
The Music Box Village was created and built by New Orleans Airlift, a nonprofit arts organization.
This hidden gem is a whimsical place that’s off the beaten path, tucked away in the Bywater neighborhood. Trust us, it's worth your while to pay them a visit.
This one-of-a-kind sculpture garden was built by artists and meant for imagination, experimentation, and creativity to thrive in a communal space.
The New Orleans Airlift team has truly created a unique space that’s great for all ages.
Each house has its own vibe and sound quality to it, and as you explore each house you’ll discover how to make music from the doors, windows, shutters, floors… Just about everything!
It’s more than just an interactive art installation.
It’s a space where kids and adults can collaborate to create music, rhythms, and beats from the most unlikely of sources.
On the weekends, you can catch live performances from both local and national musicians.
You never know who could pop in. Solange Knowles and Norah Jones have dropped in to perform. Check out the October performance schedule here.
These talented musicians literally play the room. Check out this video from the Music Box Village's Facebook page for a glimpse of what you’ll see:
The Music Box is located at 4557 N. Rampart Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117. Be sure to check out their website for more information.
