The attraction is known as School District 13. We won't spoil the experience by telling you exactly what to expect - the surprise is a big part of the fun.

Now in its 7th year, this creepy destination is not to be missed. This is, by far, the best place to celebrate Halloween in Nebraska.

But we can tell you that this isn't some weak, cutesy little festival put on by the community center. This is a truly spooky adventure through the entire village, where you never know what will be waiting for you around the next corner.

Don't be surprised if you see a face like this one staring at you from behind a building or following you down the street. The actors are all dedicated to their craft - which is, of course, giving you the creepiest time possible.

Don't worry, though - the performers are weird or funny, but they won't chase you down with chainsaws or otherwise cause extreme terror.

There are four main attractions scattered through the town, and new this year is a real ghost hunt. You'll be challenged to spend 30 full minutes in the most haunted room in the Old Brule School. This part of the adventure is said to be real - the room is actually haunted!

School District 13 is family-friendly, though the haunts are rated PG-13 (the streets outside are rated PG). Kids under 10 should be with an adult at all times. If kids get scared they can wave a glow stick (available at admission) at the performers and they will back off.

The organizers of this unique event say it's the only haunted town in the whole country. It's the kind of attraction you would expect to see in a big city, but it's tucked away in tiny Brule.

In 2017, School District 13 runs from October 27th to 29th.
