Welcome to Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site.

That's a mouthful for sure, but this stagecoach shop has earned the right to a long title. Just look around!

They're the only stop left on the Santa Fe Trail, even though we don't need them anymore for daily life.

However, in their heyday, you can imagine just how many wagons came through each day as they headed west to settle or ran supplies back and forth.

During harvest, Mahaffie Farm Historic Site has the help of volunteers who dress up and participate in the regular duties of people from the 1860s.

This could be you or your family! Working the farm isn't easy, but it's a great way to see what it life was really like. Living on the Kansas frontier was hard work, but volunteers are happy to participate for a little while at Mahaffie.

While you're here, you can participate in one of many activities that take place year-round.

Learn about blacksmithing, farming, or just take a ride in their carriage.

Special events happen on holidays like Independence Day, where you can catch a glimpse of old fireworks in action.

They're much more active in the summer, but don't be shy when it gets cold outside. The snow just makes you realize how hard the Mahaffie family worked back when they ran the stagecoach stop originally!

This trip back into local history isn't something you can find just anywhere. After all, the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails only crossed in Kansas City!
