The Nature Themed Playground In Minnesota That’s Oh-So Special

Fawn Crossing Nature Play Area is a nature themed playground in Minnesota where kids can get up close and personal with the outdoors. It’s designed to give kids a hands-on experience with the natural world and to pique their interest in exploring nature.

Fawn Crossing Nature Play Area is located within Whitetail Woods Regional Park, a unit of Dakota County Parks and Trails located in Farmington.

The play area offers a space where children of all ages can develop a curiosity about nature.

You’ll find areas to play in sand, where you can build sculptures and dams.

Kids will also find plenty of places to climb and scramble and slide.

And, of course, swing.

All of the play structures are carefully integrated into the nature area so that they complement the outdoor experience.

They’re just another component of the exploration.

Like the water pumps and rocky channel, where kids of all ages can make puddles, splash in water, and yes, play in mud.

There’s even a fort-building area where kids are encouraged to construct shelters from materials found in nature.

The park is open year-round, although certain amenities are not always available.

But that’s okay because changes in the seasons present opportunities for other awesome activities, like sledding down the park’s slopes.

The park also boasts an extensive network of nature trails - portions of which are accessible - that are open for year round exploration on foot, cross-country skis, or snowshoes.

Obviously, so much nature play can result in dirty children. Fortunately, restrooms are available at Fawn Crossing Nature Play Area so you and the kids can get cleaned up afterward.
