Discover The Magic Of A European Christmas Village At One Of Minnesota’s Newest Winter Markets

Winter Skolstice, an annual celebration of winter and the holidays at Viking Lakes in Eagan, launched in January of 2023. Going forward, one of the celebration's big draws is The Winter Markets at Vikings Lake, which features a rotating lineup of vendors every weekend from mid-November through the end of February. This winter market in Minnesota is not only one of the newest in the state, it's also part of one of our favorite winter celebrations in Minnesota.

Winter Skolstice is a celebration of all things winter, including the holidays, in Eagan, Minnesota.

The annual event takes place at Vikings Lakes, a hotel and entertainment complex built up around the Minnesota Vikings headquarters and practice facilities - hence the "Skolstice."

Winter Skolstice kicks off in November with a tree lighting ceremony and holiday celebration.

The Winter Markets at Viking Lakes open the first weekend.

A rotating selection of vendors will be selling their wares each weekend at the market through the end of February, making this one of the few winter markets in Minnesota that remains open beyond the holidays. Admission to The Winter Markets at Viking Lakes is free.

During the holiday season, visitors can also enjoy nightly ice skating at Viking Lakes and warm themselves up around one of the festive bonfires.

There is also a drive-thru holiday lights display - Magic of Lights - during the holidays.

S'mores kits are available at the nearby Warming Haus, which, as the name implies, is also a great place to warm up.

You can get a warming beverage (including adult beverages) and enjoy occasional live music at the Warming Haus.

After the holidays, Winter Skolstice will become host to the Minnesota Ice Festival.

The winter market and skating will remain open, but you'll also find an ice maze, curling, pond hockey, and even more fun winter activities (weather permitting) through the end of February.
