Summer in Massachusetts is a time for relaxing, having fun, and spending lots of quality time with family and friends. While my family loves to travel and explore new places, there are a handful of seasonal activities that we repeatedly put on our family bucket list year after year. A New England summer would not be complete without checking off at least a few of these local favorites.
1. Play A Round Of Mini Golf
An afternoon of mini golf is an easy item to work into your summer schedule. While there are lots of fun courses throughout the state, my favorite is Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf in South Yarmouth. This Cape Cod Landmark features caves, waterfalls, and 18 holes of pirate-themed fun for the whole family.
2. Embark On A Whale Watching Excursion
A scenic whale-watching cruise is a summer activity that everyone should experience at least once. Watching these majestic creatures leap out of the water is such an incredible experience. The scenic boat ride out of

3. Take A Ride On A Merry-Go-Round
You are never too old to ride the carousel. A spin on an iconic merry-go-round always takes me right back to my childhood summers. Choose your favorite horse at your local amusement park or try to grab the coveted brass ring at the iconic

in Oak Bluffs on Marthas’s Vineyard. This nostalgic ride is the oldest platform carousel in the country.
4. Pick-Your-Own Berries
Massachusetts is filled with so many wonderful farms that grow fantastic fruits and veggies. Many of these feature

5. Book A High-Speed Boat Ride
A trip on Codzilla, Boston’s thrill boat is always a fun way to cool off while you are visiting Boston. The loud music will get you pumped as you head into the harbor for a high-speed ride like no other. Be prepared to get wet as the boat twists and turns and waves crash over the sides.
6. Spend A Day At Six Flags New England
My family’s vacation bucket list always includes a trip to a local water or amusement park. At

in Agawam, you can experience both of these parks in one place. With over 60 rides and tons of water activities, a trip here promises a day filled with fun.
7. Go Camping
Massachusetts has tons of wonderful campgrounds including

in Carver. This place is great for families! There is a playground, pool, mini golf, lake, and lots of fun activities. Choose from tent, RV, or cottage glamping sites.
