It may even have inspired your own Christmas decorations. This year La Salette Christmas Celebration of Lights is back and better than ever. Running from late November through early January, this completely free holiday lights event brings families and friends together every Christmas. The illuminations shine brightly from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. every night, so you can plan a visit soon and embrace the holiday spirit.
Every year, The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro puts on a dazzling Christmas light display, and this year it's taking place from late November to early January.
You don't want to miss one of the best annual Christmas traditions in Massachusetts, a beloved family experience for many.
The La Salette Christmas Celebration of Lights is a completely free event and has been drawing Bay Staters for more than 7 decades.
It's not just about the lights, although they are stunning. The experience is also about the community coming together to celebrate the holidays.
You can visit La Salette Shrine and see the incredible light displays every single night. Illuminations run from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. unless the weather is too bad.
You don't need to be a part of the La Salette congregation to enjoy the lights; this outdoor display is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to enjoy the beauty.
Throughout the grounds, you'll find more than 400,000 sparkling lights, and many cool displays.
There are some religious themes, such as crosses and depictions of the birth of Jesus, but many of the displays are just colorful and festive, appealing to people of all spiritual backgrounds.
Christmas Celebration of Lights is a great holiday lights event for the whole family and one that many from Massachusetts will think of fondly for years. One of the previous year's themes was "Light From Afar." Each year the lights get a fun new theme.
The lights are completely free to experience but the church does welcome donations if you're so moved.
This display is incredibly popular, so you want to plan accordingly to avoid sitting in too much traffic while you wait.
The shrine website says that most of the traffic starts about 30 minutes to one hour before the lights turn on. They recommend coming early for the best spot in line. Since this event is taking place every single night, they advise visiting during the week!
