Maryland’s Annual Lavender Festival Belongs On Your Summer Bucket List

Calling all lovers of lavender! Of all the late spring and early summer festivals in Maryland, what better way to kick off the new season than with the sweetest-smelling celebration of them all? There are actually quite a few lavender festivals in Maryland every year, but one annual event is a little extra fragrant! The Lavender Festival in Thurmont, MD is dedicated to this relaxing and lovely-smelling herb and is certainly worthy of a spot on your calendar.

The Maryland Lavender Festival takes place annually at Springfield Manor in Thurmont.

This spot is a winery, distillery, and brewery, and is great for visiting (or getting married at) year-round.

We love visiting when the weather is warm, where you can sip away on the patio. What a great view!

And don't miss out on this place in June, when perfectly purple lavender blooms all around.

Things really get hopping when the annual Lavender Festival takes place. Spend some time exploring the beautiful fields ...

... and enjoy the local vendors and food trucks on-site.

Peruse the bath salt bar for provisions to take home, grab a bundle of lavender to adorn your kitchen ...

... or just bring a picnic blanket or chairs so that you can relax on the lawn while listening to live music too!

There will even be crafts and activities of all kinds!

And don't forget to purchase wine, beer, or spirits for the perfect complement to your afternoon. Yes, there's even lavender gin! A must-try.

Of course, all of the lavender cocktails and signature drinks (like lavender lemonade) are on point here.

There will also be a professional photographer snapping mini photo sessions among the lavender. There is a nominal fee for sessions, but they include all sorts of props and the photos will be emailed to you within one week.
